My husband and I asked Memory Catcher to make a dvd of our lives together to show at our 20th wedding anniversary celebration.  Our finished dvd exceeded our expectations, as did Memory Catcher's service!  The way the video was constructed makes our "Love Story" passionate, honest and amusing; precisely an example of art imitating life.



All of the interview responses and photos flow perfectly, and Nicole put together our story so seamlessly and personally that it gives the impression she has known us forever.



Being a shy person, I was nervous to be filmed; but Nicole made the process very comfortable and relaxing. She was able to calm our nerves as she asked the interview questions, and was a very happy, trustworthy person to reveal private information to.



We played the "Love Story" for our 250 guests during our reception.  People laughed, cried, and appreciated the intimate details of who we were when we met, and how we have grown in love and life.  Our only child will forever have a "memory" of us then, and now, to reflect on when he needs to.



The praise and excitement from the guests, after viewing the story, was incredible!  They appreciated the intimacy of our life being shared with them in a unique way.

Memory Catcher did an outstanding job capturing my daughter's wedding!  Their excellent service and professional work exceeded my expectations.  The video of Terry and Jillian's wedding is absolutely fantastic.  What a beautiful keepsake!



Nicole at Memory Catcher attended the rehersal, and used that footage as an introduction on the finished video, much to our delight.  She conferred wth the photographer to avoid any possibe interference, and was very unobtrusive.  This demonstrated Nicole's professionalism and consideration.  Memory Catcher was very knowledgable on how to achieve the best end product (e.g.: placing a mic on the wedding commissioner for quality sound).  Five days after the wedding, we had two finished dvd's in our possession to view!

I hired Memory Catcher to produce a surprise tribute video for my husband’s 50 birthday.  Nicole at Memory Catcher interviewed our family and friends about Bob, and combined the interviews into a tribute video we showed at his party.  A great time was had by all and the birthday party was even better then I expected.  Bob was absolutely blown away by the video.  It was a great surprise for him, and our friends and family loved it. Many of them mentioned that you usually don't hear such wonderful things about a person until they are gone, and said how touching it was to watch the video. Videos have always been on our own wish list here at Make-A-Wish Northern Alberta.  With an office of six staff we never had the time or the talent to put something together to help illustrate the impact of a wish and why we carry out our mission day after day, so when we found Nicole at Memory Catcher we were ecstatic!

Seeing my Grandmother on video after she was gone was sad, but I found it helped me work through my grief. It helped keep the memories of her in happier times in the front of my mind; rather than the more recent ones where she was ill. I think it's important to remember somebody who has gone through a long period of illness before passing as they were, before the illness. Video biographies like the one Memory Catcher completed for my Grandmother and our family really make that much easier.  Having a video biography is important if you want to keep the memories of somebody alive. I know from experience that your memories of people fade over time, even when they are of someone who you were close to. My other Grandmother passed away many years ago and I find it difficult to remember what she sounded like and I even have a hard time picturing her in my mind. I have pictures but those don't really tell me what she was like as a person and I wish I had something more to remember her by.



When I was younger, family history really wasn't all that important to me, so I never thought to ask about it. As I've gotten older, family history has become more important because I've realized that once the people who lived it are gone, you have no real way of investigating it. You can always do research via websites and public records but it's not the same as hearing the stories told by the person that lived them. Hearing my Grandmother's stories on video gave me a better sense of just how much she had seen the world change in her lifetime and had a far greater impact than if I had just been reading them off a sheet of paper. 



Through hearing her stories, I've discovered what it was like to live in a time when there was no such thing as insulin or a grocery store. We take so many things for granted in our modern society that it's almost impossible to imagine life without the conveniences we currently enjoy. I find it makes me appreciate living in present times much more than I ever would have otherwise.



I'm glad I have the video of my Grandmother because I'll always be able to go back and watch it and remember who she truly was and what she really looked and sounded like. I can't think of a better way to make sure that you will always remember someone. I found the video did an excellent job of capturing her sense of humour, her personality and everything that made my Grandmother who she was. Someday my children may have questions about where they came from and what my Grandmother was like and I'll be able to show them the video biography, rather than rely on time faded memories. This video will do a better job of teaching my children what she was like than I ever could.



Recording family history is the only way to keep this kind of history alive. Stories get forgotten and history gets garbled as time passes and as it passes from person to person. Sometimes you don't think to ask questions while somebody is alive because you start to believe that because someone has always been there, that means that they always will be. Sometimes you don't even know what questions to ask. I found out things about my Grandmother that I never knew and probably still wouldn't know simply because it would have never occurred to me to ask certain questions. It takes a lot of skill to know what kind of questions to ask and even more to be able to capture somebody as well as Nicole and Memory Catcher's video biography has captured my Grandmother.

Often when we lose loved ones, we tend to forget the sound of their voices, laughter and personality.
